Apart from the busy tourist areas, Bath has many quieter, less visited spots. Behind the Circus, just by the Assembly Rooms, is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a sunny morning.
 Bath has many alleyways and secret by-ways. The back of the Circus boasts some magnificent gardens, some of which can be glimpsed from Royal Avenue.  Sydney Gardens, at the end of Great Pulteney Street, is another tranquil place. This mock Roman Temple is decorated with the image of King Bladud, the founder of Bath. Sydney Gardens also features some beautiful iron bridges over the Kennet and Avon Canal, which flows through the gardens.If you are growing tired of Georgian architecture, the church of St John's of Bathwick has a delightful Victorian churchyard.   Its somewhat overgrown nature only adds to its charm.
